Joanna Villegas-Orozco: BIOL 104 - 01
Pronouns: She/Her/Hers
Major: Exercise Physiology
Year in School: Junior
Hello there! My goal is to become a Physical Therapist so I may one day give back to humanity via rehabilitation. I enjoy taking walks in the almond orchards with my dog, working out with the help of YouTube, watching Star Wars, playing Among Us, and writing poetry. I also really like being a student! As students in a University, we are exposed to a variety of events such as new jobs, new subjects, new professors, and new learning experiences. It can surely be intimidating to take initiative to try something new, but it is a chance to grow! Carrie Fisher once said, “Stay afraid, but do it anyway. What’s important is the action. You don’t have to wait to be confident.” I look forward to being part of your educational journey! May the force be among us!

I am a history graduate student coming back to school with the intention of eventually being able to teach at the college level. I am passionate about history: reading, writing, discussing--all of it! My historical interests are many, but my primary focuses are literary history and the domestic sphere of 19th-century immigrant women. When I’m not reading, out in nature, or baking, I’m usually traveling. I’m looking forward to working as an SI leader this semester and meeting you all.

Hello everyone!
This is my first time being an SI leader, so I am extremely excited to learn more about the different nuances of what goes into tutoring. I am the SI leader for Physics because I have a profound interest and respect for it as a field; and because I hope that the way I view Physics will have a positive influence on not only their knowledge on the subject but also the student’s enjoyment out of the class. When you break Physics down into its fundamental principles, it is essentially trying to get to the bottom of how our universe behaves and the different anomalies which govern our universe. I believe viewing Physics as being more than just math is important in maintaining curiosity—a curiosity that a student may have not known they had in Physics! Again, I am really eager for the new semester and getting to know you all more as the semester progresses!
